At some point in time in their development, most people encounter an adult figure, who instills a positive change in their lives. For me, that person was Cindy Scannella--my track and my cross country coach for my first two years of high school. With her unique approach to coaching, Coach Scannella not only gave me the confidence to flourish in the sport and lead my team, but she also gifted me with a love for running. This passion of mine as well as her continual support has carried me through the difficulties of my grandfather’s death, my parents’ divorce, and other strenuous circumstances including the end of her time as my coach. Their job consists of designing spaces that are: aesthetically pleasing, polished and elegant, safe and accessible, functional and practical for the client, with construction materials that do not destroy the environment. The salary range for an architect in Toronto is between $38,520 and $130,418.…

I probably would like to go to an engineering school because math and science are my favorite subjects. I also want to go to a prestigious school, so thats why I’m taking extra credit courses. Because if I go to a good school, then I would probably end up with a good job with a nice income, to later marry a nice girl and have a nice family. The personal story that this discussion of integration brings to mind is my own struggle with depression, despite Christian aid. In the spring of 2001, I circled the parking lot of the Lynchburg mall, knowing that I had schoolwork to do, but utterly lacking the focus and stamina to return to it. Overwhelmed, I found myself contemplating whether it would be possible to drive my car off the ridge at the edge of the parking lot without killing myself or injuring anyone else. I desperately needed rest, and a hospital visit was the only way that I thought I could get it. How did a young woman with a strong Christian worldview get to that point?…

My first tryst with architecture was back in 2000; I was about 10 years old and my parents had started the construction of our new house. We took weekly trips to the construction site and I remember being so fascinated with how a few walls and ceilings, an entity so basic, could create spaces so vastly varying and yet so personal. This had now opened up a whole new spectrum of the built form for me, I was suddenly more conscious of its presence, something I hadn’t even noticed until that time. The small doodles on the empty spaces of my text books, the drawings and sketches I did so frequently, were now progressively transitioning into sketches of the houses around me and from there on transforming to rendition sketches of how I wanted them…
