Thinking back in American history, the most notable Native American event is the Trail of Tears. This event, for obvious reasons, is taught in every school and known by every American. Because of the cruel acts during this famous event, it is easy to single this one out and forget about many others. One of the major Native American events that is forgotten is the Ghost Dance of 1890. Like the Trail of Tears, the Ghost Dance effected the lives of the Native Americans; and by the end, a large amount lost their lives. Addison Gayle’s main argument is that if Blacks are not angry, then they are not Black, which is seen as de-Americanization. According to the literature from Gayle, “The black artist in the American society who creates without interjecting a note of anger is creating not as a black man, but as an American” (Gayle 1912). The misconception here is how readers view his claim peculiar because Blacks do not always have to be angry to prove that they are Black, as if Gayle is saying that being Black but not angry removes them from blackness. Freshman student Hayden Grant looked horrified at his schedule, displaying the one class many were horrified of, Belly Dancing. At suburban Stevenson High School, they host a biennial fine arts festival named, “Odyssey”, to meet the Illinois State fine arts requirements for high schools. The formation of dance has lived on this world for many generations as we continue to pass through history. When I went to the wonderful performance at Pierce College I experienced a whole new perspective on dancing. The concert had many types of students performing mixed dance projects of all types like solos and duets. There was an average size of one to eight dancers per project which made it the ideal size for the concert. I really enjoyed the creativity and effort put into this performance.…
