In the summer of 2012, My friend and I had gone to Washington with his family for the weekend. They own a little lake house about 45 minutes away from Sea Tac. the lakes surrounded by trees and the sun glistens through the trees and sparkles off of the water. It’s a very well maintained body of water, but the lakes downfall will always be the ice cold water. Almost painful when you first jump in, worth it though.
In the garage, there’s a couple kayaks, a small fishing boat, oars, and some life jackets. I really despise going in there because it smells like musty lake water, so me and Ian run in and try to get out in a timely fashion. I’m making my way out of the garage and I hear “HEY! I wanted the green kayak!” Ian bellowed at the top

Ian and I don’t act very mature when we're around each other, it’s always more fun that way. Anyways, I had gotten up and I would have gone after him but the right side of my stomach ached from the hit; So I walked over and grabbed the orange kayak. Being at that lakes great, you can fish, swim, and just relax; The perfect paradise in my eyes.
Ian’s family makes it great too. Lee, His dad's probably the funniest guy I know; Always has a smile on his face, and known as the barbecue master. Lee and my dad have been buddies since they met each other at Intel; So we all have a family like connection. My dad would be here right now if my brother didn’t have baseball games. “Cam pull your head out, I wanna race!” Ian shouted from his seat in the kayak, already in the

I drag myself out of bed proceeding to stumble and trip on a bunch of shit I can’t see. After a very painful trip to the closet, I throw on a shirt, jacket, and my trunks and head upstairs. “Well good morning sleeping beauty.” Ian starts laughing like a hyena.
I don’t respond, too early for jokes. There’s no food for me so I hunt in the pantry and find some fruit loops, my lucky day. After I finish eating, we pack up the tackle box, grab our rods, and head out.
The air's crisp and I start to feel better. Once we get the boat untied from the dock, we paddle out and cast our rods. For the first 10 minutes we’ve both had no luck, just been chatting. 30 minutes gone by, then 45, then an hour, nothing. Im looking around the lake and it the other docks and I see this cool diving board on somebody’s dock. “Hey Ian you see that diving board over there?”
“Yeah I see it, who cares. I wanna see fish in our cooler.” He replies with a mix of frustration and sarcasm.
“Ok well that doesn’t seem like it's happening, so how bout we go test it out?” Ignoring his impatient

“Here we are,” I thought to myself as my parents and I pulled up to a big oak tree in our old, puke colored Subaru. The massive tree overlooked the Boston Harbor and the enormous cruise boats on it. Under the oak stood an assortment of kids and instructors from all over the world. No a one of them knowing what they were about to get their self into.…

Crashing underwater in the North Georgia mountains, I wondered how I ended up here, upside down in the freezing cold water of the Cartecay river. My friend Jackson is a thrill-seeking kayaker, the total opposite of me. He’s outgoing and loves adventure, while I’m a bit introverted and cautious. Last winter Jackson convinced me to go kayaking, assuring me the river was easy to navigate and harmless.…

What happens when you put a big city girl from Dallas in a small town like DeRidder Louisiana? Absolutely nothing. But what happens when the small town has a colorful scary secret? They say curiosity killed the cat but they never said it killed a person and from that logic I turned this tedious town into one of the most engrossing towns in Louisiana. Every year my family and I drive six long and enervating hours to our cousin’s house in DeRidder, in a small cube like car, with two large brothers and me in the middle.…
