Her other songs like California Gurls, and Firework are songs you can dance and sing along to. Rise is a song that soldiers, or anyone who is suffering from anything can relate to. Compared to all the songs in the same genre, this one has a meaning anyone around the world can relate to.

Some of the other songs are harder to catch on to because of the different dialects of the artists. Sia’s song Cheap Thrills has great lyrics, but the verses with Sean Paul singing are difficult to understand. Sean Paul’s dialect is hard to understand because he has a Hispanic background. Numerous artists collaborate with other artists to make a new hit, but some do not pick the right person to collaborate with. Luckily Katy did not decide to collaborate with someone like Sean Paul. If she did Rise would not be as easy to understand. Some parts of the song are hard to understand already, and if she added a different dialect to it the song would be harder to understand

Katy Perry’s song “Roar” was released in 2013 and is full of figurative language including idioms, hyperboles, similes, and alliterations. Idioms are defined as words who has a figurative meaning different than its literal meaning; they are found throughout the song. For example, “I used to bite my tongue” refers to keeping quiet and not speaking her mind verses the literal meaning of physically biting her tongue. Also, “Rock the boat” has a different meaning other than a physical boat; it means to stir up trouble or cause difficulties. Similarly, "Dancing through the fire” explains that it’s difficult to stand up for herself, but it’s worth it.…

In fact, very few pop songs go against this grain, with most of the few examples of this not actually being pop songs. “Bohemian Rhapsody,” by Queen, “Stairway to Heaven,” by Led Zeppelin, and “Wish you Were Here,” by Pink Floyd, are just a few examples of this. Why is this the case? It’s pretty simple. More repetitive songs have more potential to be popular.…

Pachema Se Gara: I really enjoyed "Pachem Se Gara" by Anoushka Shankar. It has a form of funk and spunk. This “funk” that I refer to is the way in which the rhythm makes one want to move and dance. I also like how when you listen to this type of music, you get a sense of the modern hip hop and R&B feel in the songs. If I knew how to dance the kathak, the song would have definitely triggered me to get up and start dancing.…

Katy Perry, formally known as Kathryn Elizabeth Hudson, wrote this song in 2011 and it was part of her Teenage Dream album which skyrocketed billboards around the nation. The song is a mid-tempo pop ballad about a lost love that resonates with underlying layers of exquisite content, integrated with inconsolable feelings and unvoiced desire. Moreover, It features references to the rock band Radiohead as well as the relationship of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash to express the strength of the affair. For instance—In the first verse—she talks about insane things that the two lovers end up doing and how oblivious they were to the surrounding while making plans about their future, etc. But as the chorus comes into being, the listeners perspective shifts from explicating this warm and romantic love story, to this dark and hazy amour which soon reveals the sad travesty of this relationship; Moreover, she talks about: reincarnation, her desire to be his girl in the afterlife and how they'd rebel against the world if need be—but most importantly—regretting the fact that she let him go.…

__I think the meaning of the song that Beyoncé wrote is describing pain and what females have to go to or young teens go through, trying to impress the world, and society. How that all what we do don’t mean anything or how we present ourselves maybe we aren’t too happy on the inside maybe everything isn’t all that’s well. I like the song genre because it really feels like music for our souls trying to heal it also. The new generation now we teenagers are affected by this particular song. I think the most powerful lyrics of the song is “pretty Hurts”, because that is the pain of the song the ultimate feelings that’s what she’s trying to get the audience to understand.…

If my life was a television show or a movie, the theme song I would chose would be “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. I chose this song because I feel like it best describes my attitude towards life and situations. The first impression I would want the audience to make about me would be that I have a happy spirit and I try to always stay positive and not let things bother me. I want people to see that although bad things can happen, it’s your attitude that gets you through and makes it better. I always say, the better the attitude, the better the situation.…
