I had “Girl On Fire” in mind, but I chose my daughters’ and I favorite song, “Roar” by Katy Perry. This is my daughters’ anthem; they make their Dad nauseous every time they sing this song at the top of their lungs. What makes this song so powerful, in my opinion, is because of the apparent reason that it has a motivational aspect that empowers women to break the mold of female stereotypes. The idea of Katy “roaring” speaks about a woman who can take care of herself without needing to be rescued by a man, much like the image of Katy portrayed in her music video. She overcame her fears and conquered the jungle—through her willpower and strength. She built herself a delightful spot in the jungle to live, where the animals that used to frighten
