The Hunger Games begins on the day of the reaping in District 12. Katniss Everdeen, the 16 year old main character, meets up with her best friend Gale so they can do some hunting before the reaping that afternoon. Little does she know, her life is about to change forever… The Hunger Games has multiple setting throughout the book.…
The coming of age story template has been around for thousands of years, and has stayed the same throughout those years. The template has not died despite it’s seemingly eternal existence. For example, the novels ‘Great Expectations’ and ‘The Hunger Games’ are vastly similar. Although the subjects are totally different, they are the same. From the plot to the character relationships, there are glaring similarities between the two.…
The movie “The Hunger Games” is a science fiction movie which is filmed very well from my opinion. The movie is a 2014 American movie about war. The director of the movie is Francis Lawrence. The film continues to follow the main character Katniss Everdeen who is the person who have twice survived “The Hunger Games”. Subsequently Everdeen finds herself in District 13.…
First, in the book they see the avox girl get pulled into the hovercraft. In the movie all you see in the hovercraft. See in the movie they see the hovercraft while talking. In the book they see her while hunting.…
Even though the Hunger Games and Star Wars follow the Hero’s Journey there are lots of similarities and differences through the two stories. Like one difference is in the refusal when Katniss does not want to fight in the hunger games, but she has to because she volunteered for Prim because she didn’t want her younger sister to die in the arena. But with Luke he wants to go and fight the empire, but his uncle is forcing him to stay on the planet and live with them. But Katniss is really afraid to be going into the hunger games she thinks she has a 0% chance to win and Luke is saying that he can fight with the rebellion and defeat the empire with no fear in his voice.…
There are many differences in books but there is so many things that they have in common with the hero’s journey too. To begin the Star Wars movie and the Hunger Games both share the hero’s journey but in either the same ways or different ways. Such as in the Hunger Games the Ordinary world was a very poor town and the ordinary world in star wars is a desert planet in space. In addition I think the call to adventure for Katniss was when she entered the arena because from there on the her life was going to be on a crazy journey to survive. In Star Wars I think the call to adventure was when Luke received the message of princess leia because then when that happened he wanted to save her.…
LOTF versus The Hunger Games Master of the flies is fundamentally the same as The appetite diversions. LOTF is about how these young men stall out on an island, and need to figure out how to survive the best they know with no grown-ups and adjust to their new environment. The appetite diversions is about how consistently, 2 individuals (1 from every sexual orientation), are picked from every locale to battle different regions and survive. There is one and only victor. It is impossible to be in the craving recreations.…
They both share similarities and have the same actions. Their thoughts are also alike and what they set out to do has a connection. Even though Katniss is a female and Prometheus is a male, you can compare both of these characters. Katniss and Prometheus both has attitude where they will not give up. Even though Prometheus disobeyed Zeus he still insisted that "Mankind shall have fire, despite what Zeus has decided,".…
‘The Hunger Games’, written by Suzanne Collins, is set in a dystopian future where teenagers are picked from a bowl full of names to fight for survival in the annual ‘Hunger Games’. Katniss Everdeen, the main protagonist, is a strong, brave, and fierce character. She shows us, in many ways, that family is important and they are worth sacrifice. “I volunteer! I volunteer!…
In the Hunger Games, the most important similarities the movie shared with the book was making Peeta initiate the idea of him and Katniss being lovers. This is so significant because, without this, most of the main events in the book and movie would never have taken place. For one, this angle would have left Katniss to be just another face in the crowd, not making her stand out, which also meant fewer sponsors, decreasing her chances of survival. However, the most important reason for this is because Katniss would have left Peeta to die when he needed her the most and she would not have been able to plant the small seeds of defiance against the capital. In the movie and novel, the games take a surprising turn when an announcement goes out that…
Both reached beyond their capabilities and both received their punishment. Prometheus and Victor Frankenstein are similar to their ideals of trying to create mankind. Prometheus, a wise Titan, brought mankind to life and gave them the knowledge and enlightenment…
Jack Woodford once said, “Characterization is an action that flows out of action and dialogue.” As a writer back in the 30’s and 40’s Woodford wrote an extraordinary amount of non-fiction, so he knows what it takes to be a well-liked character in either a story or a movie. Whether it’s being a hero in a movie, or a sacrifice from a small village, these are two things that Katniss Everdeen and Tess Hutchinson had to endure throughout their life. The life that these two characters lived are what formed them into who they are in their story. Although both of those characters seem different, both Katniss and Tessie Hutchinson display a tremendous amount of the same characteristics.…
Dear diary: The Hunger Games are coming really soon and I'm afraid that Katniss, will get chosen as a female tribute this year. As I'm writing this she's out with Gale hunting for today's meals, I hope they are able to catch a good supper for tonight. I might get milk from Lady and make some cheese and afterwards when Gale and Katniss comes back, I will give them the milk and cheese to trade at the Hob. I don't like the fact that the Capitol put each district into poverty. Why can't they use their power to help us?…
Katniss Everdeen, the iconic protagonist of The Hunger Games, is a 16 year old girl who lives with her 12 year old sister Primrose and her mother in dirty and poor District Twelve. Since her loving father died in a mining explosion when she was just 12, and her mother became depressed and distant, Katniss was forced to fill her father’s shoes and feed and support her family in this cruel country. Despite the rules and the risks, Katniss hunts by bow and arrow in the forest of District Twelve to keep herself and her family alive. When her sister is reaped for the Hunger Games, Katniss sacrifices herself to take her place. Katniss isn’t a terribly sentimental character which sets her apart from other girl heroines in literature today.…
The Hunger Games in one of the bestselling books and movies out there and there is no secret that The Hunger Games tosses around some very serious moral and ethical issues. For a quick explication about the Hunger games for people that may not know much about it is I think quite interesting. So, it is takes place in a time that their government is at a weak point and the rebellion of not wanting the Games gets out of hand. The main leader is Katniss Everdeen and she is the face of the rebellion, also known as the mocking jay and the favorite Girl on Fire. The movie and the book make many people ask the question of if you were in this situation the same as Katniss, what would you do?…
