There are many similarities between the film and novel of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The characters, setting, and plot are the same. The characters are well portrayed in the movie. Both the movie and book focus on the main character, Katniss Everdeen. Katniss and Peeta, the winners of the 74th hunger games, start off by going on a winner’s tour. The tour shows beginnings of the rebellion. President Snow orders Katniss to try and stop the rebelling but she fails at doing it. President Snow tries to help stop the rebelling by having peacemakers (police) control the districts. That station is necessary to show because it makes the other tributes want her as an ally. Another similarity is the dress Katniss wears to the interview. The wedding dress burns and turns into a black dress resembling a mockingjay. The mockingjay is the symbol of the rebellion. Cinna, her stylist, gets beaten up because of the dress. The arena where the games are held looks exactly as described in the book. The tributes from district 12 become allies with the tributes from district 4. At first, Katniss doesn’t trust them but after Finnick saves Peeta’s life she begins to trust him. There is a poisonous fog that they have to run from. Mags, the female tribute from district 4, walks into the fog and kills herself so Finnick can save Peeta’s life again. They find the group of Beetee, Wiress and Johanna. This is necessary because they help find out how the arena works. Beetee comes up with a good plan to kill the tributes that aren’t on their side. Beetee’s plan gets screwed up and Katniss has to improvise. She shoots an arrow attached to the lightning tree that destroys the force field surrounding the arena. She is then saved from the arena and brought to district
