She lives in a dystopian society, where the rich rule and torment the poor. These wealthy individuals belong to the Capitol, who find amusement in forms of danger and violence, especially involving humans. Who better to use to tame their craving than those in the districts, which are the working class. Katniss belonged to District 12 and found herself one of the unlucky individuals chosen to compete in The 74th Hunger Games, where the last living man wins. She was determined to defeat the Capitol once her realisation of their sick minds was transparent. Katniss did anything possible throughout the novels to defy the privileged and vicious in society, this including attempting to kill herself at the same time as the last contestant so the games would have no victor. This was an outrage to the dictator of the society, who stopped the daring girl before she committed the act in order to prevent such a thing from occurring. It began with her and a few others, but with her dedication to the cause, she was able to invoke a revolution. Katniss cared not about the risks she was taking, but the lives she was saving. However, if it were inexistent we would abandon the goals at the first sign of trouble. Furthermore, the trait is crucial for the grabbing of goals, which is evident through the lives of myself, J.K Rowling, and Katniss Everdeen, who all demonstrate grit.
