“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.” This is a quote from the famous Hunger Games Trilogy before they drawn the names of the unfortunate boy and girl from each district. When trying to decide which book to choose for my book report, one of the first ones that came to mind was to famous Hunger Games Trilogy. This book brings to light many aspects of sociology that we have discussed in class. The book contains authoritarian governments, and how fashion is an important aspect of our society. The story begins by showing the life of the main character and narrator of the book, sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen. Katniss lives with her sister that is four years younger than her, Primrose, and their mother. Their father died …show more content…
The day of the reaping determines which boy and girl, from the ages of twelve to eighteen, will enter into the arena to fight for their district until there is only one tribute remaining. And out of all the girls in district twelve, Prim’s name was selected. Katniss volunteers to take the place of her twelve-year-old sister, and she becomes the female tribute for district twelve. The male selected was Peeta Mellark, who Katniss recognized because he was the baker’s son who had given her a slice of bread one night so that she would not starve. Knowing that she might have to potentially kill Peeta because they are now going up against each other in the games did not sit well with her. While resting high up in a tree she spots the Careers, the wealthier districts, and Peeta. They had formed an alliance together to hunt and kill off the weakest tributes first. After seeing Peeta with that group she assumed from then on out she could not trust him, but Peeta saves her life a few days following from his alliances and this changes her mind on his loyalties. Katniss soon forms an alliance with a much younger tribute, Rue. Katniss grows very attached to Rue because she reminds her of her little sister, Prim. The two of them devise a plan to destroy all the food supply of the Careers’, and while Katniss was away to see the plan through Rue was killed. A boy from district one kills her with a spear, but in turn Katniss kills him for what he had done to
