Violent Characters Help Inspire One girl who has done nothing but taken care of her family goes through a journey of misery and torture. Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games has encouraged me to rise up to challenges, and that sometimes, it’s okay to be a little selfish. Caring and sympathizing with others is not always a good thing, one has to be strong and stable to get through life. At a time of chaos, Katniss struggles to feed her family, to keep them alive. Then, she entered the Hunger Games - an area where players fight to the death, and only one survives - in place of her sister, who was previously chosen. From the beginning, Everdeen never intends to kill, only to survive, not for herself or glory, but for her family. At first, Everdeen is hesitant, could she rise up to the challenge, or be the people’s hope? This is why she inspires me, the way she influences those around her, and how she manages her army. Everdeen rules by belief, not by domination. Even when she is a …show more content…

In "The Hunger Game Mocking Jay", I like how Katniss Everdeen never give up on the fighting against the inequality from the capital 1 and leads people to fight for their freedom. I felt this was a big pressure on her shoulder because what she has gone through was so tough, her lover has been arrested and tortured by capital 1, her family's safety was under threaten and she needs to be a goof leader to carry everyone to fight back. These challenges are not just physically but also mentally. An example in the novel was after Katniss went to the district 12 that has been destroyed by the capital1, she realized that "I must now become the actual leader, the face, the voice, the embodiment of the resolution." After seen what capital 1 did to her…

Therefore, President Coin’s ambition and desire to take over Snow’s spot as president drives her to adopt his tactics and oppressive habits. Throughout the war, Katniss realizes Coin’s oppressive qualities, as well as her ability to do anything required to stay in power. Katniss Everdeen is the central protagonist in The Hunger Games trilogy set in a post-apocalyptic America with a totalitarian government similar to The Obsolete Man and Brave New World. Each district (similar concept to states - each has its own boundaries and is overall controlled by the government, in this case “The Capital”) holds an annual reaping to determine a male and female competitor in their “Hunger Games.” Katniss is picked and inevitably turns her fear of the government into leading a rebellion to overthrow the corruption. The story is similar to “The Obsolete Man” because both protagonists are low-status citizens (Wordsworth is an obsolete librarian and Katniss is from the poorest district). Also, they both have their pivotal rebellious moments screened on the television for all of society to see; Wordsworth reveals that the Chancellor will die while Katniss reveals that her dress resembles her rebellious symbol of the mockingjay in the second movie Catching Fire.…
