Dear President Snow, This is Katniss Everdeen from District 12 and the winner of the 74th Hunger Games. It has been sometime since the games ended and though I am relieved to be alive, I am still not at peace. I feel that this is the right time to address my thoughts and views on the annual Hunger Games conducted by the Capitol and under your leadership. To begin with, I would like to bring to your attention that the Hunger Games are unfair as two tributes from each district need to fight each other to death as only one tribute can win the games. The significance of the Hunger Games was to bring peace and remind us of the Dark Days where the twelve districts were defeated. How do people in your people dying bring peace to the districts? Kids

One place in the book where Katniss showed herself as a hero was when she volunteered for her sister Primrose at the reaping. This is something very important she did because otherwise her little sister would have suffered and had to play in the games. Another time when Katniss showed herself as a hero is when she took over the role of the head of the family household (this was because her father died in a mining accident). This is important because otherwise the family would have suffered as Prim was too young to give this big of a responsibility and her mother was not trusty as she had run off once and is ill. When she did this she was depressed as her father had died, however, she did not let this get into her way. A place in the book where Katniss shows her skills is when she is ranked number eleven (top) by the Game makers against the twenty-four other tributes. This is significant because it shows the other tributes how good Katniss is with weapons, gives Katniss more sponsors, and encourages Katniss more to win. A place in the book where Katniss shows that she has not given up hope is when she talks about the feeling that she will be able to make it back home alive. This is crucial because she can’t let down her mother and Primrose. They would just not be able to survive as Katniss is now the head of the family In short, this is how I would describe Katniss
