Katniss Everdeen Character Analysis

Suzanne Collins positions Katniss Everdeen as a ‘hero’ through the expert use of language techniques. Through the use of these techniques Collins is able to explore the characteristics of Katniss which made her a hero, specifically bravery, sacrifice and determination. Based on the given evidence it is clear that through her many heroic characteristics, Katniss Everdeen is seen as a hero in both the eyes of the novel’s characters and readers alike.

Within novel ‘The Hunger Games’ Collins positions Katniss as a hero through the sacrifices she makes. Katniss’ heroic qualities are explored on page 26, when she cries out with fear “I volunteer, I volunteer as tribute”. Collins use of emotive language shows how Katniss is willing to sacrifice
