Katniss Challenges

Katniss suffered through many challenges in a mere few years, that most never suffer in a lifetime. She lost her father as a young child during a mine incident, then became the head of the household at age eleven. Katniss volunteered for the Hunger Games in place of her sister at age 16. Also, Katniss accidently made the government angry through a small act of accidental rebellion, at the end of the Hunger Games. Most never suffer through all that in a lifetime, but our young heroine not only suffered, but survived, all the grueling challenges life put in her way. Katniss lost her dad to a mine incident at age eleven, and her mom went blank due to sadness. At age eleven Katniss had to take over as head of household, and provide for a family of three. Katniss was going to school, making sure her sister got to school, and trying to keep the entire family alive at eleven. Katniss had one parent that was mentally ill, and has to provide food to not only herself, but her sister and mother too. Being head of the household made Katniss a strong young adult quickly, and forced her to grow up quicker than she need to. Those challenges in her young life impacted how Katniss approached harder challenges later in life. …show more content…
Prim, her little sister, had her name entered only once. The odds should have been in Prim’s favor, but sometimes, the odds are never in our favor. Prim got picked for the Hunger Games. Katniss then volunteered to take Prim’s place, and be thrown into a fight to the death. No one is thrown into a fight to the death at 16, and if someone was, there’s a slim chance of their survival. Prim made Katniss promise to try and win the Hunger Games and come home, so Katniss stuck true to her promise. Katniss is a fighter, and faced many challenges in the short couple weeks at the arena.
