Katniss: A True Hero

Most might see Superman or SpiderMan as examples of a typical heroes. This is partially true, but they are really just self-obsessed people with supernatural powers. As demonstrated in The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, Katniss is a true hero, and definitely confirms our understanding of a typical hero. She has many traits and does many things that a typical hero does; she tries to protect everyone around her, she has the characteristics of a typical hero and she always wins in the end.

Katniss is a very selfless person, she is ready to sacrifice herself for her loved ones in a matter of seconds. After her father died, Katniss was forced to take over as the head of the family at a very young age. Since then, Katniss has had to take all

She is bold, courageous, dependable, she brings hope and doesn't expect anything in return of her actions. After Rue is killed, Katniss leaves herself venerable to attack in order to give Rue her funeral rites. She sings to her, then takes her time to cover her body with flowers. Katniss also helps and protects Peeta after getting cut by Cato. Even though taking care of Peeta ruins her chances to win slimmer, she doesn't hesitate to give him food and water. Panem needs hope, and Katniss gave it too them. After volunteering for her sister, everyone hoped that she won the hunger games. After the defying the Game makers rules of only being one winner, she bring hope to Panem, causing the thought of rebellion against the Capitol. Every hero has a 'superpower', or something they are very good at. Katniss is very good at the bow and arrow showing another trait of a hero. She keeps getting how that 'She's excellent' and that she shoots 'every squirrel in the eye'.
