Kathleen Thumpston Influence On Education

If you look above the music wing’s entrance, you will see a sign that says “Committed to Excellence.” This sign wouldn’t be there without some of the dedicated musicians that are committed to what they do. The best example of devotion and passion for what they do isn’t a student, but an instructor. Miss. Kathleen Thumpston is one of the most inspiring people I know, not only because of her ability to push students to strive to do the best that they can, but also because she is a great role model and cares about all of her students individually and personally.

Miss. Thumpston was once a student herself and realized how hard it was to work, get good grades, and play/practice an instrument at least once a day. These experiences help her push students to try their best and be the best they can as a musician and as a person. The way she helps students understand and play music is amazing to watch because she knows just how much all of her students are going through. She doesn’t only care about how well her students play and how much they practice outside of school; she cares about how their day is going and if they are excelling in all of their classes. Thumpston shows. She is such a dedicated teacher, and she cares for each and every one of her students. She knows how skilled and intelligent her students are and uses this to analyze how to help them improve. If someone asks me if Miss. Thumpston is strict or if some days she drives me crazy, I will tell them yes, but I will also tell them that this devotion and love for her students is what lights a fire in our hearts and helps us strive to be better
