According to Kathleen M. Werner, quality management (QM) means: “assessment and improvement of work processes while focusing on what customers want and need” (p. 379). The following discussion is an example of how the Emory Healthcare, whose motto is “we’re all in this together”, tries to be a national leader in quality improvement and patient safety using ‘the cornerstones of QM: quality, scientific approach, and “all in one team” ‘(Werner, p. 379). Nosocomial infections are some of the very well known hospital problems that are increasing, affect patient safety and raise the cost of treatments.
