The Katherine Trewhitt Scholarship would impact my life by showing me my potential and helping me avoid debt. I see a massive part of transitioning from a child to an adult is learning to be independent. From my point of view, independence is found through hard work and responsibility. This gateway into adulthood is found when a student begins applying for colleges and scholarships. Applying for scholarships takes a considerable amount of time and effort, thus making it a challenge to see if through the years a student has learned to work hard and be responsible. Though the primary goal of a scholarship is the help the student with monetary issues, I see scholarships as a way to show the potential of the student. The student has worked his …show more content…
In addition, they feel self-worth, because they know the that they were chosen due to who they have become. In the same manner, I feel that the Katherine Trewhitt Scholarship would help me to perceive the potential I have in myself. I have already found so much of myself through some of the clubs and activities I take part in. For example, I am currently employed on my family’s farm as a farm hand. It means getting dirty and long hours, but I live for the moments my father tells me that I’ve done a good job. I strive to have good work ethics such as being dependable and trustworthy. I have found that I believe that everyone should not only have these qualities at work, but also they should have them in life. On the other hand, scholarships will help take the pressure off of me and my family to come up with the money to go to college. As it is now, not only will I be going to college, but also my sister is enrolling at Cleveland State for the fall semester. I do not want to see my sister’s and my own educational pursuit put a strain on my father. Another issue that arises is student loans.
