kate spade - Fashion Director: I find this job to be the most appealing because it directly deals with the visual aspect of the fashion industry. One of my dream jobs entails working at a corporate level and being on a team that designs the window displays and visual layouts for stores around the U.S./ world. This job is high up in the field, so it’s something I could actively be working towards. I currently work for kate spade and love the aesthetic of the brand, along with the values the company holds. The company culture is vibrant and the merchandise fits my personal style. I want to work at a place I would feel inspired, and kate spade does just that. Something I would look more into is figuring out the steps needed to obtain a position like this in the future. Such as, what jobs or internships I could currently take that would set me on the right path for a job along the lines of this one.

I want to have this done before July 5th, 2016, which is when I leave for London. I want to push myself to apply to multiple internships instead of just applying to one I really want. To obtain this goal, I will need to do some research on companies that are looking for interns during this timeframe. My first step would be to use GoldPass and other sites that are available online. The next step would be to research the companies I am applying at and looking at the job descriptions. After that, I will need to make sure my resume is up to date and create a cover letter that is targeted directly to each internship. I would have someone look over everything to make sure it is all impeccable. Lastly, I would apply and hopefully land an internship at one of the

I first started looking for a summer internship during the spring 2015 school semester. I used various outlets and applied to many jobs in Long Island, NY and in Albany, NY. I found that using career websites, such as CareerSaint or Indeed.com, did not result in me finding much because I would send out my resume, and not really know who my resume went to so I could not follow up with the company if I wanted to. So, I started researching online, mainly using search engines such as Google.com, companies that I thought would be a good fit for me. My major is Actuarial Science, however I am still looking at working in different areas in business in order to find something that I really enjoy doing and can see myself doing as a career for the rest of my life.…

In the articles, “In Defense of Liz Lemon” by Emily Nussbaum and “The Fashion Industry: Free to Be an Individual” by Hannah Berry, both discuss how women can choose to step out of the typical stereotype on how women should be portrayed and be who they truly want to be. Women are now becoming more comfortable in who they are by showing their personality and confidence in the way they act, dress and communicate to others.…

While some people may think of event management as a degree in party planning, it is gaining credibility as a legitimate career. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council created event management standards which also led to the definition of exactly what an event is (Robertson, 2015). An event is “a social form that organizes interaction in a distinctive way” or the “gathering of three or more people who agree to assemble for a purpose ostensibly related to the functioning of an organization or group” (Beaulie, 2004). According to Michael Auerbach, “in 2006 there were 51,000 event planners in the U.S. and 39% of those were within an event planning company” which demonstrates the grand size of the industry and its obvious importance to society (2015). The purpose of this paper is to explore a career in event planning.…
