Kara Walker's 'Gone With The Wind'

The subject matter for Kara Walker’s artwork, based on the video, is work dealing with negative and positive space. Kara puts up artwork that are essentially shadows, she makes the images in reverse in order to create the visual representation of the perspective she is aiming for. Besides creating the shadow like images, Kara also arranges for a projector to be present in order to give a new perspective on the artwork she has created. Although the projector is used to give a sense of new and unique backdrop, it is also used for the viewers discretion. By putting the projector in the room the viewer can get an impression of what it would feel like to be in the piece of art and experience the event portrayed for themselves.
