Explanation: By getting married, Jenn and Kyle are publically showing that they are in a committed relationship. This stage is identified as the bonding stage because they are officializing their relationship and agreeing to keep a close bond.
2. Brian and Sarah have begun to spend a lot more time together. They are also have also started sharing more personal information with one another, like information about their families and future plans.

Explanation: Since Brian and Sarah have been spending more time together and disclosing more information about their lives to one another, they are entering the stage of intensifying their relationship. When Madeline sees her boyfriend, she feels like she doesn’t even know who he is anymore. He travels so much for work that they don’t see each other often and she avoids talking about the future because she knows they will end up in a fight. Friends are beginning to notice that something is off. She is afraid he is becoming disenchanted with the relationship.
Knapp’s Stage: Circumscribing
Explanation: In Madeline’s situation, she is seeing that her relationship is starting to come to a pause because her boyfriend is rarely around. They are beginning to distance themselves from one another and rarely have serious conversations. I believe this represents the circumscribing stage because they are communicating less and less in quantity and quality.
5. Darren met Angela at a Student Government Association (SGA) meeting. He enjoyed talking to her, so at the next meeting he asks her questions, like “what’s your favorite food? What kind of music do you like to listen to? ” He’s trying to gage if they have any common interests.
