Ayurveda care for Kapha type body
According to Ayurveda, our body is made up of five elements namely, air, water, earth, fire and space. Kapha is a combination of the elements Water and Earth whose meaning is ‘sticky’. Our body structures are formed by the energy derived from kapha energy. It supplies the vital nutrients and liquid that are needed to life to emerge and sustain on the planet. Kapha provides the body with lubrication in physical form and structure that results in the smooth and proper functioning of all the parts.
The qualities of kapha includes heavy, sweet, damp, sticky, slow, oily, soft, cold, slimy and static, just like winter. A kapha dominated individual will display all these qualities both in the state of balance and imbalance. People who are kapha type, are a combination of grace, calm and passion. Avoid clustering in physical spaces like at your home, office space, living room or car. Regularly clean them and give away the things you do not need anymore.
6. Use warm aromas around your surroundings such as eucalyptus, cloves, cinnamon and camphor. They are soothing and stimulating which easily changes the surrounding from a gloomy and dry one to a fresh, energetic and dynamic one.
Diet Plan for Kapha Lifestyle
1. Diary
Prefer drinking low fat milk and boil it before drinking. Add a pinch of turmeric or ginger in order to keep your kapha pacified and regularly checked.
2. Fruits
Lighter fruits such as apple and pears are good for intake. You can avoid eating heavier fruits such as banana, coconut, oranges, dates, figs, pineapples, etc. as they are known to increase kapha.
3. Vegetables
Most veggies are good to go in the case of a kapha type individual. The only ones you should avoid are juicy vegetables such as tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and sweet potatoes.
4. Spices
It is alright to take all kinds of spices. The only spice whose intake should be reduced is salt as it gives rise to kapha.
