Language makes humans different from other species because they are capable to retain the information and build upon it. Bees, bacteria, chimpanzees and every other species have the ability to communicate with each other, but they are not able to build upon their basic communication.
Many humans have attempted to make animals talk or communicate in our language. (Modified from Paul Raffaele “speaking bonobo”) “He was then asked to communicate this information to his sister. Kanzi vocalized, then his sister vocalized in return and selected “yogurt on the keyboard in front of her.” Several more animals than just Kanzi and his sister have been taught and learned this human communication. However,In most of these cases the animals have responded

Sal Castro is a nice man who does not go without a fight as we heard by this video while he was explaining abou the different negative outputs he recieved in the cource of his attendance as a teacher and a supporter of the movements that were occuring during the late 60's. I however found out about Castros achievments and goals for his students while taking a Chicano Studies class during the Spring. The quote that you used does express what many would have felt if they gave up the cause of keeping their culture alive since if they did not then who knows if Spanish would have spoken currently or if any other cultural language would be for the matter. In the end I found you response pleasant and informative, and in my opinon schools should teach…

Imagine the world 1.5 million years ago. You are likely a homo erectus, hunting a mammoth colossal in size. You covertly stalk it with another of your tribe, gazing awestruck by its sheer size. Since you have not developed language, you rely on your powers of intuition and empathy with the other hunter. We have used these non-verbal and emotional forms of communication to understand eachother better for millennia.…

Firstly, Adeline Yen Mah’s extensive knowledge and well placement of language techniques position myself to sympathise with her. Adelines powerful use of language techniques such as similes which in some parts of the book were used to express how dire a situation was. This is seen when father announced he would test the dog with one of the ducks which “the announcement was like a death sentence” or her use of metaphors to express a greater deal of emotion such as when adeline was “dying to go” to wu chen party. Adeline’s extensive knowledge of language techniques positioned myself to sympathise with…

Ishmael Beah’s memoir A Long Way Gone is appropriate for the Sterling high school English IV curriculum because Beah makes use of the complexity of ideas and creates connections to the real world. Markedly, the use of the complexity of ideas makes the memoir well rounded, and better reading material than many other pieces. Accordingly, after Beah and his friends leave the first village after seeing it destroyed, they run into one problem: food.…

Non-human primates may not have as complex of a language system as humans do, but there is evidence that they have complex communication systems that could be considered simple language systems; but equally fascinating is that some non-human primates can be taught new and simple language systems outside of their normal systems. The idea is that language develops when there is a benefit to the animal. Innate language amongst the groupings and other groupings in the same area is in order to communicate for survival; mating calls, warning calls, and so on. The learned language systems are a response in order to receive rewards or to get the attention of humans in order to benefit the non-human primate in one way or another; sounds to grab attention…

In my opinion, I think that we will still hold to idea that spoken language is only specific to humans. Although there are many animals can communicate with people by sign language like gorilla's case or parrot which can say some words because people repeat some words or some deeds through time the animals respond for what people want from them. According to the differences between Koko (gorilla) and human child there are four aspects : hierarchical structure, infinite creativity, expressing displaced concepts and being rule-governed. In really, the human child maybe uses sign language or repeats some words in beginning of her/his life, and the human child acquires a language very quickly in a short period because the human child's brain develops…

Language is the light of the mind. It is an element of civilization that raised man from hunting and gathering to the like of MLK, Kennedy, Shakespear’s,and ect... Man could not become man except by language. An essential point in which man differs from animals is that man alone is the sole possessor of language. No doubt animals also exhibit certain degree of power of communication but that is not only inferior in degree to human language, but also radically diverse in kind from it.…

Nonhuman primates, for example, do not have the same level of mental thinking as humans. Having less mental thinking, they do not find it necessary to communicate apart from alarm calls. Nonhuman primates also resulted in an undeveloped language system for communicating, in contrast to humans, by their unspecialized vocal cords. Their vocal cords are not as flexible and complex as humans’ thus they cannot produce richer, more flexible variable sounds. For example, humans have acoustic strings that help in making various changes in tone (Zuberbuhler…
