Kanye Omari West was born June 8, 1977 in Atlanta Georgia to Donda and Ray West. After going through a divorce, his mother moved him with her to Chicago when he was three. As a child, Kanye was very rebellious and hard to deal with. He also was very interested in music at a young age. In grade school, he created his first song/rap called “green eggs and ham”, purchased his first keyboard, created beats, and choreographed dances. After graduating from high school, West attended Chicago State University. Unfortunately, West took more interest in his musical pursuit than he did in school and dropped out of school after only one year. Because he stopped going to school his mother made him leave home when he was 20, he relocated to New Jersey to pursue his music career full time. …show more content…
This hiccup could be seen as a career ender, but West recorded “Through the wire”, a single from album College Dropout, even with his mouth wired shut. His As West’s career grew so did his ego. His ego kick began when he was praised for openly criticizing President Bush during relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina. He is known for his random and often uncensored comments and opinions. In 2007, West’s life came to a grounding halt when his mother died from complications after a cosmetic surgery. He was very conflicted by her death and fought until California passed a law required clearance before patients undergo cosmetic surgery in 2010. West is different from other rappers because he did not experience a hard upbringing in the streets, his songs are very lyrical and inwardly focused, and he has a very unique fashion sense.
