Kanye West: Sexual Predator

Decent Essays
A voice for my generation, a music icon and also a fashion icon. Kanye West has touched every element in the music industry with having over 380 award nominations, including 21 grammy awards. In recent news Kanye has met with newly elected president Donald Trump to discuss “life” is what Trump told reporters. In my opinion i have mixed feelings on as to why Kanye has any contact with an alleged sexual predator and is known for getting minorities with an opinion thrown out of his rallies. Kanye West is the same person that got on live television before he took the stage for a Hurricane Katrina Relief Concert broadcast saying “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” with the most serious face ever. So for him to be in the same room

On October 13, at the auditorium in Whitman College, I went to go see writer and civil rights activist Shaun King. Shaun King’s lecture surrounded Civil Rights and the Black Lives Matter movement. Shaun King brought up several intellectual philosophical questions to the audience, such as “If humans are getting steadily getting better than why are than why are there 102 unarmed African Americans killed last year?”, which he compared to 1902, when 102 African Americans were lynched. King described human’s progression life peaks and valleys on a line graph. King then brought a line graph that started out as an increase, then showed a dip, and then showed the line increasing again.…

He has to deal with ‘monsters’ that come in the form of his insecurities and status symbols. West writes, “I’m so self-conscious, that’s why you always see me with at least one of my watches,” in his song ‘All Falls Down.’ He uses this example to explain how material items such as, like watches, are what get you real attention in society. After explaining this fact in the song, he steadily urges people to destroy this system. Using this song, and many others, he does his best to work against his insecurities and his material-hungry…

Aside from being GQ's Man Of The Year twice, being one of the biggest names in hip-hop, debuting his own clothing, jewelry, and shoes line, and being TIME's most influential person of the year, Kanye is also married and a proud father of two. Rappers misuse their influence at times and rap about insignificant topics that focus on consumerism, such as rapping about cars and money, and objectifying women. The way rap music is portrayed in the media seems to capture these trivial topics rather than the important social issues some rappers discuss. However, there are few rappers who dare comment on social issues, two being Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West. Lamar and West write music about important social topics such as racial injustice and racism in America, whereas other rappers are ignoring these issues. Lamar’s most recent song, “The Blacker The Berry,” talks about the institutionalized hardships black people are still facing, such as economic inequity and harmful social perceptions,…
