Omari Kanye Omari West is one of the greatest rappers ever. To many, Kanye West is just a performer who is a self-centered, egotistic jerk. Just because he is egotistical, does not mean you should not give his music a chance. After reading this, I hope the reader goes out of their way and listen to his music, and give West a chance. When it comes down to it, he is a rap god, a fashion pioneer, and an incredibly brilliant human being. Who knows maybe one day he will be President of the United States of America. With the profit he made from his debut album, Kanye spent a lot more time and money making Late Registration. If College Dropout was his coming out party, than Late Registration was the reason that we still speak of Kanye. Kanye spent more than a million dollars of his own money to sign orchestras and book studio times most record labels do this themselves, but since he is a perfectionist, he spent way too much time and money in the studio, and the orchestras. When the album was finished, he had created a masterpiece. The commercial success the album received was in most part thanks to the single “Gold Digger.” The song features Jamie Foxx, the man who played Ray Charles in Ray, impersonating the late great soul singer. The song was on the radio twenty-four seven during the summer of ’05. The album also featured songs with Jay Z, Adam Levine, and Lupe Fiasco just to name a few. Another song that gained popularity was “Hey Mama” a song dedicated to his mother. The song was introduced to the world on the Oprah Winfrey Show. “Hey Mama” was composed in 2000 but was only released to Kanye’s mother until he decided to include it on Late Registration. The album was another major success and won West the award for Best Rap Album of the Year once …show more content…
The album has some plots that repeat themselves but overall it is sporadic most of the time and yet it still tells a beautiful story. The main point from the album is how Kanye has finally reached that point in his life that he has become truly happy. Another key point from the album is that rap does not have to be gangsta-rap to be successful. This was a springboard for many artists who did not have the stories of the street but wanted to rap. Thanks to Graduation, we have artist like Wale, J Cole, Kid Cudi, and most especially Drake.
