Passionate people can be found from across the globe; however, the passion of one young man who comes from the Southside of Chicago is unmatchable and unique from anyone else. Kanye Omari West grew up in the “Windy City” of Chicago. Kanye’s mother, Donda West, was an English Professor and the first African American Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University. Kanye’s father, Ray West, who was also a former black panther, is a photojournalist. Ray West currently resides in the Dominican Republic, where he helps remove human trafficking and give ex-drug addicts a rehabilitation center. The foundation that West’s father started is called, “Good Water”. In 2002, Kanye fell victim to a devastating car accident that left him with a broken jaw. After he was released from the hospital, Kanye’s mouth was wired shut in order to rehabilitate after his reconstructive surgery. Some people who have been in similar situations as Kanye might look at that situation as one that is impossible to overcome. He used this wire to his advantage and went to record a timeless classic that we know today as, “Through the Wire”. Since then, Kanye has created music at his highest caliber. Beyond music, Kanye has taken part in multiple collaborations in the world of fashion. From two capsules with A.P.C’s founder and Creative Director Jean Touitou, to designing a sneaker with Balmain’s former Creative Director, Christopher Decarnin. Among many other creative endeavors, the 37-year old has established a creative firm that has opened the doors for all young innovators looking to project Kanye’s mission forward in our world through product innovation and
