The Kansas City Athenaeum was founded in 1894, when several residents of the growing town came together to form a literary group, and also pursued philanthropic activities that would benefit the community and address other civic causes of the city. Over the years, the Athenaeum has been dedicated to promoting Kansas City culture through education, historic preservation, friendship and philanthropy. In present times, the center is organizing different activities in educational and philanthropy.
