Kansas basketball has some of the most loyal and dedicated fans in the country. They love their team, students do not miss a game their four years in college. Time Warner cable should not blackout games in areas where they do not cover, they only cover a small part of the U.S., they don't cover Kansas, fans cannot watch all the games they want. Time Warner Cable doesn't cover the majority of Kansas. “Time Warner only covers 1.4% of the Kansas counties” (Time). The Jayhawks are based in Kansas so if the fans can't watch them play people will lose interest. There are many Jayhawk fanatics in uncovered areas around the country. There are also many basketball fanatics who just like to watch good sports. Those fanatics cannot watch one of the most dominant college basketball teams in the country. It does not just interfere with basketball, it interferes with football, volleyball, baseball, and softball. This deal is cheating people out of watching rising and already great sports teams. If people cannot watch their team at home they will lose interest and then ticket sales will go down. “KU fans can't watch 43% of the preseason games if they don't have Time Warner Cable” (Gonzalez). Some people do not agree that Time Warner should not blackout areas they do not cover. They may think it will convince people to get Time Warner Cable. People cannot get Time Warner Cable if they do not cover the area they live in, so people cannot get Time Warner. KU administration may think it will increase viewing on preseason games. If Time Warner Cable doesn't cover the people how will they get more viewers. They only cover a small part of the U.S., they don't cover Kansas, fans can't watch all the games they want. These are all reasons why Time Warner Cable shouldn't blackout games in areas they don't
