Background
University of Missouri hospital is a Level I trauma center located in Columbia, Missouri that treats some of the most complicated injuries and illnesses. University Hospital’s trauma team cares for more than 25,000 emergency room patients each year. In addition, University Hospital boasts 247 patient beds and has a seven-story critical care tower equipped with the latest medical technology. University Hospital also offers hundreds of different surgical procedures in their state of the art operating rooms. The mission of University of Missouri Health Care System is to advance the care of patients and promotes the research and education mission of the University of Missouri (MU Health, 2017).

In addition, a Kaiser Permanente Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) tool was used. The HVA tool complies hazards and the risks associated with each of them into a chart which helps to prioritize hazard mitigation planning (California Hospital Association, 2017). The results from the University Hospital HVA can be found at the end of this report.
Determining Severity
In order to determine the probability and severity of hazardous vulnerabilities, most likely to occur, at University Hospital, I researched previous planning documents from the agency as well as the 2015 Boone County Hazard Mitigation Plan. In addition, while conducting the HVA I used my personal experience and knowledge as an employee of University Hospital, for over six years, as well as my familiarity with the region to determine the most severe hazards.

The team would be made up of individuals from various groups throughout University Hospital, such as department management personnel. I would also include, on my EOP team, community representative such as a Boone County Health Department official, and a Boone County fire protection and police official. The team of experts would then use the NIMS as a guiding tool to combat the potential threats that I identified in the HVA based on history and known hazardous risks to the
