Kahmarion Drawing

Great Essays
On Thursday, April 13, I asked eight year old Kahmarion if he would be willing to draw me a picture of anything that he wanted. At first, he was super excited to get to go out into the hall with me to do this activity, but he quickly became frustrated because he couldn’t think of anything to draw. After giving him numerous options of things that he could draw about, such as about his last birthday party, his favorite TV show, what he got for Christmas, what he did over Spring Break, etc., he finally decided that he was going to draw me a picture of a gift that he got for Christmas. After about 5 minutes of drawing, Kahmarion said that he was finished and I began asking him questions about what he drew.
For the sake of time and the fact that Kahmarion gave some pretty lengthy responses to my questions, I only asked him four questions about his drawing. The first question that I asked was, “What is happening in this picture?” His response was, “This is a basketball rim My grama got this for My lase ChristMas.” The second question I asked was, “How do you play this game?” Kahmarion answered, “Me and My brother Play in My room and first you take

In terms of writing stage, I would place him in the Transition Within Word Stage, because he is able to process words by chunks, such as the word basket-ball. He has also spelled almost all of the sight words correctly, including make, this, first, take, win, fun, and many more. However, there are a few places where he is confusing vowel patterns, such as in the word shoot, where there are two o’s that make the /oo/ sound, instead of one. There were also a few places where he made some grammar mistakes. My guess is that there would have been less mistakes if I would have done this activity with him about thirty minutes sooner, when his brain wasn’t focused so much on

While observing Molly I noticed she is very quiet and has a good group of friends in school. As I watched Molly read, I believe the reading development stage she is on would be an early reader. Molly can use pictures to figure out what is happening in a story and sounds out words to figure out what a certain word means. I believe Molly is on the transitional stage for spelling. She does a good job with spelling but she often spells words by how they sound.…

There are so many ways in which to be educated these days. You could go to the general public school, a private school, a Christian school, or you could get an online education. Having so many choices could cause some confusion when parents are trying to decide what would be best for their child. Many parents don’t take classical education into consideration. Introduction Both cognitive psychologists and philosophers have been interested in cognitive development. The aim of this paper is to examine the developmental theories of Piaget, Vygotsky and Burner as they contend with cognitive development. Also, these theories are quite different from each other. John Piaget Swiss development psychologist John Piaget (1896-1980) was one of the first people to examine cognitive development systematically. Piaget proposed that children are born with a fundamental mental structure on which all subsequent learning and knowledge is based.…
