I wanted to view my practice in different ways in order to develop my skills, but also to challenge my thinking and enable me to see things in different ways. This has enabled me to use my learning outside of my work and into the wider community. This is reflected in my role carrying out supervision and as a mentor where I have used aspects of Transactional Analysis to achieve carefully planned professional supervision. This has helped to explore how emotions and personal feelings affect practitioners thinking and practice. This type of reflection can enable practitioners to ‘feel’ their work. This in turn has allowed for reflective dialogue and debate to take place with my supervisees. I now adopt a person centred, solution-focused approach and a ‘no blame culture’, which encourages freedom, responsibility and innovation in practice, and where every opportunity is seen as offering something new, or for understanding something
