I made sure they all knew that I was their go to person if they had any questions about tennis, school, and even life. At practice, I pushed each and every girl to give practice her all, the best way to become a better player is practice and I would repeat that to them when I saw them dragging their feet. I constantly gave compliments to my teammates when they had a nice shot but I also wasn't afraid to give helpful advice when I saw any of them struggling. I wanted to be more than a captain to my teammates, I wanted to be someone they looked up to and someone they found a friend in.
Throughout the season my friendships grew with each of them, I would find something different about each of them and relate it to my life in some way. I found that many of them liked the same music as I did and we would all sing on the bus rides to our away matches. Also, because many of them were younger than me, they would come to me with questions about school or teachers and I would do my best to give them advice. Each girl has had a huge impact on the person I am today because not only did I teach them something, but they showed me the feeling of joy when they would praise me on being the best
