Juveniles generally, people under age 18 can be tried for crimes as juveniles, where the penalties do not include confinement with adults in State prisons, nor capital punishment, and certain other exclusions. Or a Judge can order that a juvenile be tried as an adult, in cases where it appears to the Judge that the person acted with adult-like foresight, understanding, conspiracy, and the like. When a juvenile is tried as an adult, the penalties can include imprisonment alongside adult offenders.
