Just because they are technically not considered to be an adult, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have to learn how actions have consequences no matter what your age is. This is a tough lesson that many citizens feel should be learned at a young age. If harsh punishments are given early on, it could lessen the likelihood that juveniles would commit other crimes in the future. Society shouldn't look at the fact that a person who committed a crime is a child. That shouldn't have any relevance to the fact that someone did something very stupid and should be punished for it. Adults who are criminally charged with something don't get a reduced sentence, or are sentenced to community service for a crime they committed, they are sent to prison where they have many years to think about their actions and learn from their mistakes. Juveniles should take the same punishments as adults.
