If someone brutally murdered someone you loved, would you want them to get away with it or serve justice for the crime they committed? Imagine you find out you're pregnant sister and her husband were brutally murdered in their home and the person responsible said it was just a “thrill kill” saying “he just wanted to see how it would feel to shoot someone”. Does a teeneager deserve to get away with this because of his age or deserve the adult punishment?
There have been lots of cases where minors commit heinous crimes and when they are sentenced the judge goes easy on them because they’re a minor, but if they do the crime they should do the time. I believe those who can go out there and plan to murder someone should serve a full sentence as an adult. Everyone at a young age is taught right from wrong, which means when they do that crime, they know it's wrong and yet they still do it.
There have been studies done on the teenage brain, For example in “Startling Finds on Teenage Brains” Paul Thompson, has stated that those who commit these crimes and any other young teen are far from adulthood. I believe that's a good thing possibly this will teach other offenders to think about the crimes they're going to commit before they do and make them rethink that option so they won't have to die in prison also. “Last month in Sacramento, a fifteen-year-old Yuba City youth who reportedly claimed he was mimicking a TV program about little girls who rob a bank was given a 26-years-to-life prison term.
