Juveniles Should Be Charged As Adults Essay

Decent Essays
Juveniles I believe should be most definitely charged as adults because if you are adult even to do the crime you can pay the time. Juveniles are of course children but in most cases from what I have seen they are driven to commit crimes at such young ages due to their home life, social media influence, and their abusive past. Some children are even more advanced and mature than others and have a more complicated mind and think much more complex than other more not as mature children.

The home life of a child can greatly affect how they act towards others and what they think. Some juveniles have great, loving, kind, and supportive homes to go to meanwhile others don’t have the same. Other children that have committed crimes and been through the court system have came from much worse home settings where they have harsh, bitter, abusive, and negative parents “caring” for them. This can take a huge toll on young children and drive them to do things they may regret that could have huge consequences. At home is where all people and of course children spend a lot of time and lots of things happen in the home and “it is true that a bullet wound hurts just as much when the weapon is fired by a child as when it is fired by an adult”, so we must take this into account and try them equally.
This day in time it is becoming more and more popular

Some do not know because they are very young and are innocent and have no clue while other are other and have plotted what they will do and how they will do it and know what will come out of it and what they will face. All in all, I believe juveniles should be tried as adults and face adult punishment. I believe they can still do and serve the time as an adult but in a spate facility. If a child commits the exact same crime as an adult, I believe that they should both face the same consequences and have the same

Children committing heinous crimes are not a rare occurrence anymore; the upsetting reality requires new tactics for dealing with young juveniles. Some Americans believe children should be tried as adults, yet others feel that they are too young to understand their wrong doings. In most conditions minors are quickly told they are too young or too old for something, however before being sent to an adult facility we need to contemplate all aspects of the case in order to decided whether or not being tried as an adult is necessary. Regardless of the crime, some people feel that an adult facility is not a suitable environment for children to serve their sentences.…

Juvenile crime has been an increasing point of debate in recent years. Many people argued whether they should be sentenced as adults or not when convicted of a serious crime, such as murder. Some argue that juveniles deserve to be treated as such despite the crime they have committed, while others believe they are to be treated as adults. This resulted in many juveniles receiving adult sentences like life in prison without parole. Some juveniles commit crimes without a thought of the risks, while some carefully plan out their crimes and get a serious thrill out of it.…

There is no reason why they should not be treated differently. It has been proven that crime committed by youth and crime committed by is drastically different. Adults have fully developed and a sixteen year old is not. A minor does not have the strength of an adult to commit a really dangerous crime. Therefore, juveniles should not be tried as adults because of the dangers an adult jail can do to a…

Estudillo claims juveniles should be tried as adults in court. Minors who commit certain crimes such as murder should be tried as adults. It is stated “[Juvenile] laws were first created to handle small cases such as truancy and vandalism” (Estudillo). This quote explains how these laws were clearly not meant for huge crimes, but for less serious crimes. Further stating a kid has enough knowledge to know committing a crime is wrong.…

Juveniles in American societies should encounter the responsibility and consequence of being tried as adults, despite their age, when committing unspeakable, heinous crimes. In Richard A. Serrano’s article, Young killers serving life without parole may get chance at freedom, he introduces reasons why it is acceptable for juveniles to be tried as adults. Seranno lists, seventeen-year-old Johnny Freeman “raped a five-year-old and tossed her from a fourteenth-story window,” sixteen-year-old Peter Saunders “bludgeoned an elderly woman, then from prison mailed a bomb-like device to a judge,” and sixteen-year-old David Biro “marched a husband and his pregnant wife down their basement stairs and shot them both” (Serrano, paragraph 12). Although…

Children are usually seen as innocent, as they play around with others and are just balls of energy. Often seen as simply kids who have no experience in the outside world until they grow older. However, sometimes a child’s play can go wrong and can affect another’s life. When these incidents happen where a death is involved, it’s often easy for society to look at the offender as a murder who should be in prison for the rest of their life despite what age the offender may be. While juveniles committing heinous crimes should be punished, they should also be given the chance to rejoin society at an appropriate age; therefore juveniles who redeem themselves should be able to get released earlier and be able to put their life together.…

There have been many opinions on juveniles being convicted as adults on the crimes they have committed. When it comes to some of these harsh crimes, who could not punish the individual to the fullest? It does not matter how old a person is because everyone knows the difference between right and wrong. If someone is raised differently and believes it is okay to murder another human, than they cannot just change their mindset. An individual that makes and adult decision should have the same consequences.…

According to the article written by the CNN legal analyst, Phillip Halloway named ‘Should 11-year-olds be charged with adult crimes?’ on 14th October 2015, there has been an increase in the number of juvenile offenders who have been sentenced as adults. These are the issues presently plaguing the American legal system, as the brutal deeds of juvenile wrongdoers keep on to making headlines (Halloway, 2015). The primary question is, are children able to understand the consequences of their actions? Maybe, not as latest studies suggest that the brain 's prefrontal lobe, which some scientists study, performs an important role in slowing down improper behavior, may not attain full growth until age 20.…

Juveniles who break the law should be counted as adults depending on what crime they do. Juveniles need to take responsibility if they are going to do big crimes and are going to be tried as adults. Too many kids are doing crimes and getting away with it with a slap on the wrist basically. In Canada if a person is arrested and sent to jail under the age of 18, that person will get out of jail at the age of 25. It is a law that if you are sent to jail at the age of 18 they cannot give juveniles a life sentence, but they can give juveniles until the age of 25.…

Juveniles should not be tried as adults for it is wrong to hold adolescents, under the legal age, to adult standards. If children do not even receive the same rights as adults in the first place, it makes no sense to try them in adult court. These juveniles should have the opportunity to be rehabilitated in a positive manner, for they tend to come from troubled households and violent neighborhoods. In over half of the cases these troubled kids don’t know any different way than a life of crime when surrounded by both social and environmental factors that influence their delinquent actions. One must commemorate that juveniles are mentally underdeveloped, and still have time to innovate if their issues are dealt with precisely and accurately.…

The decision of juveniles being tried as adults in the world of criminal justice has usually been an object of controversy. Some agree that an adolescent who commits a serious crime like murder deserves to be penalized exactly like an adult; while others declare that a minor should not face the same punishment as an adult. However, no matter how severe or appalling a crime may be, juveniles should not be tried as adults; the reason being that everyone should be granted the chance to learn from their mistakes. Juveniles should not be punished as adults, simply because they biologically distinct from adults. Teenagers are the midsection between children and adults.…

A rise in juvenile crime is becoming more and more of an issue in the present day. The only way to resolve this problem is to start sanctioning violent juveniles as adults. Juveniles should be able to be charged as adults in court because they commit violent crimes, they know the difference between right and wrong, communities would be safer, and juveniles would be deterred from committing crimes in the present and the future. Even though they are younger, juveniles are just as capable of committing the same violent crimes as adults. When they do, juveniles should receive the same sentence for committing the same crime.…
