Adolescent Adjustment as Precursors to Recidivism in Court-Referred Youth
In this article court-referred adolescences completed the Reynolds Adolescence Adjustment Inventory Screening. They also took part in an intervention program where they were monitored for a total of two years. Their main focus was to classify the probability of juveniles reoffending. The authors offer some scholarly evidence and statistics of reducing juvenile delinquency. They are attempting to bring more local, state, and government attention to this issue. The authors include arguments with supporting data on environmental abuse which ties into my thesis of violence, truancy and peer pressures contributing to juvenile delinquency. More after school programs can reduce the number of youths engaging in criminal activities. The authors identify studies that indicate kids are getting into trouble in the hours immediately afterschool dismissal between the hours of 3pm to 6pm. Although there are no clear-cut solutions establishing community programs that is less expensive and more convenient for working parents. Sixty-one percent of the girls are raised in a single-parent home and thirty-two percent of them lived in families earning less than $10,000 per year. The author suggest that early traumatic experiences are precursors for arrests during the adolescent years. Due to the abuse the delinquent females are impulsive, rebellious, hot tempered, and are resistance to treatment.
