Juvenile Life Sentences Imagine being forced to live in a prison full of adults where your development means nothing to the institution, how would one feel? How could one live in such a place where your age and maturity mean nothing to anyone? How would one feel never finishing the teenage years that everyone is so fond of? Juveniles are not fit for being sentenced to life in adult prison because, even though they committed the crimes, they cannot measure the consequences because they are impulsive, they become more violent in prison, and because it slows down their mental development.
People can all agree that teenagers are impulsive in many ways and crimes, for some teens, are no exceptions. Teenagers are usually known to be impulsive and have other behavior troubles and this is known when people say that “At no other time are these differences more pronounced than during adolescence, when youths struggle with their immaturity, undeveloped decision-making abilities, impulsiveness, lack of future orientation and susceptibility to negative peer pressure.”("Kids Should …show more content…
This controversy has been around for ages because there are juveniles all through time that have committed crimes and have to unfairly live within an institute that does not take them into consideration. It is not fair for these kids to be sent to an adult prison for the rest of their lives when their age is enough for them to have it easier because they are truly not prepared for such a situation. If everyone could work together as a community and spread the word about how teenagers should not be punished so cruelly, then all together they could be saved from a terrible life in
