Being an at-risk youth, I struggled with finding my worth and purpose. I was in the dependency system before I was a year old. After bouts of living with my own family and several foster families, I eventually aged out of the system. Despite my traumatic childhood, receiving an education was always a priority. Regardless of what was going on in my life, my focus remained on my academics. The odds of matriculating to graduate school was not in favor of me, but I had an aspiration. They often already feel lost and neglected. Most children in the dependency system are also in the juvenile delinquency system. The trauma that most juvenile delinquents endure is expressed through their behaviors. This is where I come in. I want to be the advocate that sees the child and helps them become successful. Fighting for each child, to get the help they need and not to be stigmatized for the remainder of their lives. I am humbled by the thought that I had someone see the best in me and I could be that person for someone
