Upon release juveniles are trying to adjust back into society and figure out what they can do for their future. In most cases a juvenile will not know what career path they will want to pursue or will not know how to prepare themselves for that occupation. What also must be included as a factor is how a juvenile record will affect their chances of employment. In certain cases a juvenile offender may there records expunged. An expunged record is making a record unavailable through the state or Federal repositories. If a juvenile is able to get their record expunge; the likelihood of being hired increases. But what happens if a juvenile has no previous job training. The personality, priorities, and age of the juvenile’s focus on getting a job varies. Fortunately there are programs that help the newly released juveniles get ready for work in the real world. These programs help the newly released juveniles get on the job training and help seek employment. Other programs help expose certain talents that the individual might have. Examples of these goals are art programs offered to young offenders. Programs like these have the same goals. The goals are to keep young offenders out of trouble and off the streets. The findings show the majority of the population in the facilities. Most are white non-Hispanic males ages 16 to 17. The studies also show that 43% are classified as person offenders. When asked about their family backgrounds. Nearly half of them confirmed that they were raised by both parents. Thanks to the Survey of Youth in Residential Placement and an article by Andrea J. Sedlak and Carol Bruce. The justice system now has a clearer view on the background and characteristics of the incarceration of the young offenders. With this information in the hands of the justice system, more programs and approach methods can be developed. This will greatly give the justice more thoughtful and positive solutions to helping the young offenders. However, the characteristics will not stay the same forever.
