Liberal party leader Justin Trudeau used various types of pure persuasion to convey his message (Gass & Seiter, 2012, p. 23). In order to intentionally evoke an emotional bond with his listeners, Trudeau recounted various opinions and stories from Canadians he had encounters during his travel across Canada. He stated that many Canadians beyond the capital often believe that the “people in Ottawa”, the parliament, are not listening to their concerns (CBC News, 2015). He then asserted, “Well I am” after a dramatic pause to add further emphasis to his bold statement (2015).
