Narrator 2: Justinian heads over to the Hagia Sophia to check on the progress the builders have made. *Justinian walks up to the Patriarch and nun* Justinian: How is the construction coming along?

Patriarch: It is coming along well. We are progressing and trying to finish as soon as possible.

Nun: It seems to have recovered well from the inferno.

Narrator 2: The original church was damaged in 404 A.D. by a fire that erupted during a riot following the second banishment of St. John Chrysostom, the patriarch of Constantinople at that time.

Justinian: Yes it does, do you happen to know where the monk is?

Justinian: Monk! I have been looking for you.

Monk: Oh, my apologies. Did you need me for something?

Justinian: Yes. I have to ask you some questions.

Monk: And what might those questions be?

Justinian: Are there any disruptions in our territory?

Monk: Yes your majesty, many in fact. The biggest of them still remaining from years before, Jerusalem.

Justinian: Yes, yes, I was just thinking about that. It is about time that we take back our rightful land.

Monk: I believe that you’re right. I had a vision about a week ago of Christians taking the Holy Lands. It is time to embark on the crusades again.

Narrator 2: The Holy Lands, also known as Jerusalem, was the prize possession of any religious group claiming to be related to Abraham.

Justinian: Then it is decided. We need to gather our army to fight the infidels.

Monk: Please, allow me to travel with you so that I may be able to convert some of the non-believers into believers.
