Justin Beiber Essay

As a traveling teacher librarian I definitely want my students to look forward to their time with me. I am only in their classes every six weeks, for one or two lessons, so engagement is a big part of my planning. I spend time trying to get to know them through surveying their reading habits and classroom discussion. Additionally I have done different “icebreaker” activities so that I can get to know them and they can get to know me. They love playing 2 truths and a lie. One of the statements I always use is that I happen to “run into” Justin Beiber. They always choose this as the lie, but it is the truth. It is fun to see their reaction! Another thing I try to do to is to put their names into a Stick Pick app on my phone. The app picks a random name during discussions. The projects should try to reach various learning styles and be differentiated to accommodate all learners. One activity I found that is failure-free that can be used with a reference inquiry is Tabletop Twitter. Students answer questions and pose questions on large chart paper in stations around the room. I’m in the process of writing plans for the younger students and am looking for good activities. I definitely want to introduce t hem to the nonfiction texts available to them through Open eBooks the new free Open eBooks app for Title 1 and all Special Education kids. It is the only collection I have to work with right

My favorite lesson/topic I learned this year was about cannibalism, Jamestown and Disney’s inaccurate movies. I liked learning about Jamestown because when the settlers ran out of food, they ate each other. I also liked learning about this because we got to play Minecraft and build our own little Jamestown. I enjoyed learning about cannibalism in general because I liked seeing Jaylens reaction about everything, and because it was just fun to learn about in general. If someone does cannibalism or “Biggest Fails in History” for ROWVA Chill I'm definitely taking that class.…

Since my high school Creative Writing class will be an elective class that will consist of students in tenth through twelfth grade, I will need to find ways to bring student fun into the learning as much as possible. I have found that students love to eat and socialize, so I will include food, props, and games whenever possible. Difficulty will occur as the norm for class size at my school is thirty-two to thirty-six students, and not all students want to be in the classes where they are assigned. Since a text will not be available for the students, handouts and overhead projections of terminology and examples of writings will be needed. Keeping the class light and the learning fun and engaging at all times will be my goals.…
