They find work on a ranch but then Lennie accidentally kills Curley’s wife. Then George, Lennie’s best friend, kills him. George was justified in killing him because he saved him a slow painful death, jail time, and any more accidents. Curley said he’d kill Lennie in a slow painful way for killing his wife.
