According to the myth, we are all born to the same creator a sort of mother earth. This creator when creating the person instills within them a specific type of metal either gold, silver, or bronze/iron. These metals all meant different attributes of the soul and therefore classified you for different jobs. If you were of the gold classification you got the highest of training and the most power whereas if you were the bronze/iron classification you were not allowed the things of the gold classification. Myths allow us to see from the perspective of the time period they were told and this specific myth allows us to see how people during the time of Plato saw differences in people and even more so races. Just as the 1920’s the United States, the republic Plato and friends in their minds of the group of men was systematic and showed the bias towards the stronger. The system they created said that only a certain set of people were allowed or could even be capable of learning a specific set of knowledge or skill even. This was even present in the actual world during Plato’s time as most Greeks were seen as superior to the outside world calling them barbarians. These barbarians were the lower and not the stronger in the systems eyes and were even treated differently when it came to things such as capture.
