It suggests that the good things the people do improve the Gods; however this would imply the Gods are not as powerful as they are thought to be. Socrates then poses the idea that maybe the relationship is more like a master and slave but this again means that the Gods have some reliance on people. This would then mean the Gods must be pleased by the good things people do but these things do not help them. Socrates questions why would the gods need the people if they don’t need to gain anything.
Censorship is relevant when talking about Socrates and ethical issues today in society, furthermore censorship and freedom of speech has evolved in today’s society with social media becoming more prevalent and other media outlets like T.V. shows and films being part of day to day life. Socrates aimed to highlight that Euthythro didn’t really have an answer for what was pious and him basing his actions on something that doesn’t necessarily prove that his actions were pious at all. As Euthyphro believed what he was doing was correct, the man prosecuting Socrates must also have believed he was doing what was correct or pious. However, how do either of them know that what they are doing pleased their Gods, how was it known that they were the ones who knew what the Gods wanted and what was pious.
