Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” This verse clearly states that there is a time for everything, even war and killing. For war and violence to be just for a Christian, though, depends on their intentions and the circumstance. The only reason a Christian should ever fight back is if they are using it as protection or defense, whether it is for themselves, others, or even their country. There are multiple examples in scripture of Christians fighting to defend themselves in war. In other words, peace in this world cannot be achieved without force. For example, policemen, soldiers, and others must fight in order to defend their fellow citizens and their country against unjust violence. What would we do without these brave men and women? If all Christians were pacifists, then there would be an enormous amount of death and destruction everywhere, because there would be no one protecting the innocent. A study was taken in 2008 that proved that 77% of soldiers are Christians! Without them, there would be no army to battle the evil of this world! Also, God is a God of justice. There are many examples of Him using force in the Bible to achieve justice! Christians can be in law enforcement, the military, and can fight, as long as they are seeking justice, just as they believe God
