Instead of being honest the group gets caught up in every drama situation possible but one will find a way to get around it to assure they won’t lose their girlfriend, spot on the team, or popularity rank. Finding ones true self is another that shows throughout the book. Within the story line, Jake started over with a new school, learning to be a long snapper, and making new friends. However, Didi brought up a lot of his old self back again which later showed how much affection he had towards her. Yes, the attention is great when you get up there in the popular crowd. Jake loved the attention he got when he went to the college. As shown on page 24, “Guys were slapping him on the back, ruffling his hair, and treating him like he owned the place.” His reputation wasn’t exploited for him being cool or a jock, but rather because he did homework for the college kids for money. This is a situation when kids acted as his friend and made him feel as if he was this important student. However, Jake was just being used for homework help. Quite sad, isn’t
