Just Stand Up For Me Essay

Throughout the first trimester, many people have stood up for others at home, school, or our community. Our school theme this year is Just Stand Up for each other, peace, and our Earth. We are called as Christians to treat one another as we want to be treated, The Golden Rule. An example of when someone stood up for me is through my service projects. Most people don’t value their lives and aren’t always aware of other around them. I help a physically challenged girl and her family every Sunday or Saturday. I am able to see her family and their struggles that are centered around their daughter to keep her happy and healthy. In our world, there are people who want more in life and do anything in life to achieve it without thinking of the consequences

Most people refuse to realize that we subconsciously do things for others to satisfy our own self-gratification. There is no alarm that magically goes off in our head and says, "this act of kindness, support, or generosity is not for them; it is for you and therefore not genuine". It takes a strong willed person to really pay attention to the actions they make and how it affects not only others but more so of how it will always hurt themselves.…

Women may have been discouraged along the way, but we never gave up. Women are fighters. As a female athlete, I will always be grateful to Title IX. I would not be able to participate in high school athletics if Title IX was not passed. Women would still be overlooked, still be told to have two roles in life (which was to clean and take care of children) and still be stuck in a hole.…

Don’t “Take a Knee” Lately, the news has been filled with strongly opinionated editorials discussing a recent protest. The protest is against police brutality and the general racial injustices present in America today, and it was perpetrated by NFL players across the country by kneeling during the National Anthem. This action has been quite controversial; many people argue it is wrong because the National Anthem should be respected, while others reiterate the First Amendment and emphasize the freedom of speech and petition. However, while the concern is valid, voicing it during the National Anthem seems selfish of the NFL players, who are ignoring the sentimental value of the National Anthem.…

Rawsi Williams once stated, “To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do, in spite of all we go through; that is to be a Nurse.” Rawsi Williams’s words truly defines who a nurse is. A nurse is not an individual who just cares and treats patients, but a nurse is who goes above and beyond to fulfill his/her obligations of helping others. As a nurse, I hope to work and make a change in Woman’s Health. Through my working experience as Mother-Baby nurse in Houston Area and volunteering in El Paso, I have observed that several females neglects to take care of their health.…

As a student of Beacon high school, I have made many efforts to model my daily actions around exemplifying the student of honor. Through demonstrations of leadership, character, and service, I have shown my qualification to be admitted into the National Honor Society.
