Taking a “Stand” When you think about other protesting you probably imagine people shouting and yelling for their voice to be heard. Or you see signs with graphic words or pictures being raised above for all to see. However some protesters choose to be more peaceful and don’t say anything, but instead execute an action.…
Most people refuse to realize that we subconsciously do things for others to satisfy our own self-gratification. There is no alarm that magically goes off in our head and says, "this act of kindness, support, or generosity is not for them; it is for you and therefore not genuine". It takes a strong willed person to really pay attention to the actions they make and how it affects not only others but more so of how it will always hurt themselves.…
Women may have been discouraged along the way, but we never gave up. Women are fighters. As a female athlete, I will always be grateful to Title IX. I would not be able to participate in high school athletics if Title IX was not passed. Women would still be overlooked, still be told to have two roles in life (which was to clean and take care of children) and still be stuck in a hole.…
Don’t “Take a Knee” Lately, the news has been filled with strongly opinionated editorials discussing a recent protest. The protest is against police brutality and the general racial injustices present in America today, and it was perpetrated by NFL players across the country by kneeling during the National Anthem. This action has been quite controversial; many people argue it is wrong because the National Anthem should be respected, while others reiterate the First Amendment and emphasize the freedom of speech and petition. However, while the concern is valid, voicing it during the National Anthem seems selfish of the NFL players, who are ignoring the sentimental value of the National Anthem.…
If no one else is helping, then the act of helping must be innapropriate. In hopes of appearing correct, people do not stray from what is normal and therefore don 't help the…

Rawsi Williams once stated, “To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do, in spite of all we go through; that is to be a Nurse.” Rawsi Williams’s words truly defines who a nurse is. A nurse is not an individual who just cares and treats patients, but a nurse is who goes above and beyond to fulfill his/her obligations of helping others. As a nurse, I hope to work and make a change in Woman’s Health. Through my working experience as Mother-Baby nurse in Houston Area and volunteering in El Paso, I have observed that several females neglects to take care of their health.…
Where I Stand … Because this is the first informal feature piece I write in Ninth Grade Literature, I think you should know where I stand on a variety of issues. These issues include, things I love, dislike, believe in, and some of my personal qualities . Hopefully you will get a good sense of my type of writing and just my personality in general. Who knows, we might have some common interests.…
In spring 2016, I went on a mission 's trip with Oral Roberts University to Mercy Multiplied Ministries in Sacramento, California. This ministry is a live-in home with a program for women who have been through difficult situations. Women were there for addictions, abuse, drugs, eating disorders, and so on. All these women had different backgrounds and different stories. Many people could judge them and say that they got themselves into their situations.…
Everyone should help each other so we can all grow up together and be successful in life.. I wish people could just see another human as what they stand for, but not the material…
The term honor in National Honor Society can be used to describe an individual that shows integrity, equality and respect through their actions. As a student of Beacon high school, I have made many efforts to model my daily actions around exemplifying the student of honor. Through demonstrations of leadership, character, and service, I have shown my qualification to be admitted into the National Honor Society. I exhibit good character to the community by helping to teach younger children during Sunday school at my church. For the past three months I have volunteered in the youth department teaching elementary students ethical lessons, actively shaping their morals.…
The stand your ground law is a controversial topic, many people agree with it and others are aganist it. These laws generally states that under certain circumstance, an individual who believe they are in imminent danger to use deadly force. A tragic incident in Flordia, where an unarmed teenager was shot by a armed neighborhood watch valenteer cause people to question these laws. I think the concept of this law is a good one, but the speifics of the law need to be reviewed. Although this law has decreased crime rate, the negative details of law are far to important to be ignored.…
I volunteer in the maternity concierge of Mission Hospital, where I am part of the Baby’s First Ride program. Essentially, I am responsible for making cribs for babies, rooms for mothers, and best of all discharging mothers and babies from the hospital. When families are ready to go home I am one of the lucky few who get to wheel them outside. I also make rounds in the ward offering water and asking if any if the parents need anything or running any errands for the nurses. I absolutely love that I get to be present while babies see their first glimpse of the world outside the hospital.…
Cassidy Murphy Dr. Steven L. Burg ENG101 pm Nov. 2017 “Me Too” It's a cold December night, my friends and I are driving down the dirt roads of Tennessee. All of a sudden it hit me, it's late, and we are alone in an unfamiliar area far from home. My mind immediately goes to things like: What if the car breaks down?…
Growing up as the only child I had to stick up for myself. Besides my immediate family, I never had anyone to stick up for me. Knowing that I was the only child, it would be common sense to stand up for myself. Throughout the years of my life, there were certain situations in which I wish I had the guts to stick up for myself. Though I am still young, life is still a learning process that I have to accomplish.…
