Throughout writing my paper on Just Mercy, I conducted lots of research on the topic and took my time writing. I felt that it would be a good idea to go through my book and highlight important information that I deemed necessary to produce a well written essay. Creating a background of my topic allowed me to obtain a better grasp on the information I was writing about. I then proceeded to create an outline of my paper. I figured that I should break up each paragraph into sections, starting with my thesis - then creating a few well rounded body paragraphs that clearly demonstrate my knowledge on the subject. I ended with a conclusion that provided a question to the reader. After I was finished with my rough draft I decided to verify that I had the right idea by showing it to my professor. He gave me some suggestions and I went back to the grind in hopes of writing a well thought out essay. As peer review day came, I noted what my classmates suggested I improved on and made some changes to the paper. After having over four sets of eyes already look over it, I let two of my other friends outside of the classroom give me their thoughts. This was my journey to the final draft. I find myself being a procrastinator, and a somewhat non-patient person. Both of these things are not necessarily good traits, but they both can be fixed with some time and effort. It is critical to think highly of yourself, even when times get tough. I know that can be hard sometimes given the circumstances, but it will pay off in the end. Not only have I become a better writer, but I have become a better person. I have a greater understanding of those around me and have successfully been able to assist those in need. Writing has opened my eyes to the real difficulty of the world and what it takes to survive. If one decides to fail, then they will fail.
